Classes

All classes may be booked 7 days a week using the booking window at the bottom of this page, over the phone, or in person at our facility. All classes are required to be booked at least 2 weeks in advance in most cases.

Intro to Climbing (For Adults or Kids)

$29 for members | $39 for non-members. 1 1/2 hours long. Want to climb, but unsure where to start? Beginning anything new can be intimidating, but our professional instructors are here to guide you through the first steps to getting on the wall, and gaining the confidence you need to join in on the fun. Participants will learn about difficulty ratings, types of climbing holds, the basics of falling and spotting, how to move on the wall, and what to keep an eye out for when you’re in the climbing gym. Regardless if you’re a kid or an adult, this is a great way to get your bearings to begin moving in the right direction. Intro to Climbing is offered 7 days a week. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Top Rope Belay Certification

(Ages 12+ years old)

$15 members | $29 non-member. 1 – 1 1/2 hours long (depending on class size). Belaying is one of the fundamental skills required to build a safe, stable foundation in gym climbing.  Participants will learn the basics of rope management and communication while belaying their climber in a gym top rope setting, and will be subject to a test at the end of the course.  Should the participant pass the test, they will  be allowed to belay other climbers while using the top rope anchor systems in Gripstone (as opposed to relying exclusively on using the autobelays).   We recommend that participants sign up in groups of two or more (up to four), as it provides for easier instruction and comprehension. Top Rope Belay Certification is offered 7 days a week. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Already know how to belay? You can get a check-off! Check-offs take around 5 minutes (you either know it or you don’t!) and just need to be requested to any staff member available. There is no cost, though if you need a “refresher,” we recommend that you take the class, as may take some time depending on how long it’s been since you’ve last belayed, and what you may have forgotten.

Fitness Class: Prehab

(Ages 16+ years old)

Free for members | $10 non-member. 1 – 1 hour long. Every Tuesday from 7-8pm.

Prehab allows climbers of all levels to learn the importance of correct form, while building strength, stability, and body control to help prevent common climbing injuries. This class will focus on both major and minor muscle groups using light weights and bands, including a thorough proper warm up and cool down with stretching. Because class size is limited to 6 total participants, we are not able to accomodate drop-ins. All participants are required to sign-up ahead of the class.

Fitness Class: Fitness Circuit

(Ages 16+ years old)

Free for members | $10 non-member. 1 hour long. Every Wednesday from 7-8pm.

The Fitness Circuit class is a great way to train off-the-wall. The circuits will include strength training, HIIT exercises, TRX, and core work focusing on power and endurance skills that can transfer from the class to the wall. All fitness levels are encouraged for this class.

Because class size is limited to 6 total participants, we are not able to accommodate drop-ins. All participants are required to sign-up ahead of the class.

Movement & Technique

THIS CLASS IS UNDERGOING FURTHER DEVELOPMENT AND IS NOT AVAILABLE A THIS TIME.

$39 members | $59 non-members. 1 1/2 hours long. This class is designed for climbers of any skill level who wish to work with our certified instructors one-on-one. Each class is built around the needs of the participants, and can be discussed with the instructor ahead of time. Our instructors will work on all aspects of  climbing movement, body position, and resting techniques. Movement & Technique is offered 7 days a week. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Lead 101

(Ages 14+ years old)

$79 members | $99 non-members. 3 sessions, 2 hours long each.  This class will instruct the participants on the intricacies of rope management and safety considerations on the climber end and more importantly, the belayer end while lead climbing and belaying in Gripstone.  Unlike the top rope belaying class, there are some climbing experience-based requirements whereby the participants must be able to climb at least 5 routes in the gym (all 5.8 or harder) in a session without falling or resting on the rope, as well as the ability to climb a 5.9 without falling or resting on a rope. All participants must be at least 14 years old or older.  After completion of the class, participants will be eligible to test for Gripstone Lead Certification on another day (any day other than the instruction day). Lead 101 is offered 7 days a week. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Specialty Class: Aerial Silks

(Ages 18+ years old)

$30 per participant. Single session, 1 hour long. Participants may bring own hardware, or use Gripstone’s in exchange for a $5 cleaning fee. Aerial Silks Classes will only be offered on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, at 8pm. Designed for beginners, our Aerial Silks Class is a fun and creative class that will lead to greater strength and flexibility.  This class will be offered on the first and third Monday of each month, and participants must sign up for each class individually. Overall, this class will be progressive in that new poses and skills will be introduced each class…so the more classes you sign up for, the more you will learn! While all rigging will be handled by our CWI and First Aid/AED certified instructor Tracy, each participant will need to bring their own aerial silks and rescue eight hardware. We sell aerial silk/hardware packages in our shop or you can contact Tracy to see if your aerial silks meet our specific requirements. (If you want to purchase an aerial silks package through our shop you must do so 2 weeks in advance of attending a class.) All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Classes require pre-registration. You can use the booking links above, or call for more information or to reserve your spot.
