Classes

Classes

All classes have been moved to the weekends only at this time. All classes are required to be booked at least 2 weeks in advance in most cases.

Intro to Climbing (For Adults or Kids)

$29 for members | $39 for non-members. 1 1/2 hours long. Want to climb, but unsure where to start? Climbing can be intimidating- so take a class and get on the wall! Participants will learn the basic hold types, how to move on the wall, and learn the basics of what to look out for. Regardless if you’re a kid or an adult, this is a great way to get your bearings! Intro to climbing can be booked for 10am, 12pm, 2pm or 4pm on weekends. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Top Rope Belay Certification

(Ages 12+ years old)

$15 members | $29 non-member. 1 – 1 1/2 hours long (depending on class size) Belaying is one of the fundamental skills required to build a stable foundation in climbing. Being certified to belay in our facility allows for climbers to use our top rope anchor systems to catch their friends in the event of a fall, rather than having to rely on the Auto-belay systems exclusively. We recommend that participants sign up in twos, as it’s easier to learn and makes the class more fun, but we’ll take any amount up to 4 per booking! The Belay Certification class can be booked for 10am, 12pm, 2pm or 4pm on weekends. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Already know how to belay? You can get a check-off! Check-offs take around 5 minutes (you either know it or you don’t!) and just need to be requested to any staff member available. There is no cost, though if you need a “refresher,” we recommend that you take the class, as may take some time depending on how long it’s been since you’ve last belayed, and what you may have forgotten.

Movement & Technique

$39 members | $59 non-members. 1 1/2 hours long. This class is designed for climbers of any skill level who wish to work with our certified instructors one-on-one. Each class is built around the needs of the participants, and can be discussed with the instructor ahead of time. Our instructors will work on all aspects of  climbing movement, body position, and resting techniques. Movement & Technique can be booked for 10am, 12pm, 2pm or 4pm on weekends. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Lead Belaying and Climbing Certification

$79 members | $99 non-members. 3 sessions, 2 hours long each. All classes must be done on Saturday or Sunday. (There is also a monthly Ladies Lead Class offered on the fourth weekend of every month.  This course covers the same material as the regular Lead Class, but is held for and taught by females.)  Pre-requisites to take this class include: Top rope belay certification, preferably at least 6-months of climbing experience, and the ability to climb a 5.9 without falls (climb is determined at instructor’s discretion).  This class includes rope management on lead (clipping, stances, avoiding tangles and more), belaying a leader, and safety considerations for lead climbers and belayers in the gym. This class can be failed, as lead climbing is considerably more dangerous than Top Roping. Classes by appointment only. All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Specialty Class: Aerial Silks

$30 per participant, minimum 18+ yrs old. Single session, 1 hour long. Participants may bring own hardware, or use Gripstone’s in exchange for a $5 cleaning fee. Aerial Silks Classes will only be offered on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, at 8pm. Designed for beginners, our Aerial Silks Class is a fun and creative class that will lead to greater strength and flexibility.  This class will be offered on the first and third Monday of each month, and participants must sign up for each class individually. Overall, this class will be progressive in that new poses and skills will be introduced each class…so the more classes you sign up for, the more you will learn! While all rigging will be handled by our CWI and First Aid/AED certified instructor Tracy, each participant will need to bring their own aerial silks and rescue eight hardware. We sell aerial silk/hardware packages in our shop or you can contact Tracy to see if your aerial silks meet our specific requirements. (If you want to purchase an aerial silks package through our shop you must do so 2 weeks in advance of attending a class.) All bookings are required to be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Classes require pre-registration. You can use the booking links above, or call for more information or to reserve your spot.
