FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I just come and climb, or do I have to schedule an appointment and class?

If you’re an experienced climber that wants to come in and climb, you can just show up and buy a day pass at Gripstone.

If you’re new to the sport, we highly recommend that you sign up for our Intro to Climbing class which includes a Day Pass, all of your equipment, and instruction from Gripstone’s staff.

Make sure you have a current liability waiver on file with us before coming in to climb

Do I need to fill out any paperwork before I come in, or can I fill it out once I get there?

Waivers are required for everyone to enter the climbing areas – Parents or Legal Guardians must sign for their minors. The documents can either be done in advance online at our waiver page or in person at one of our three kiosks. If children are 12 or younger, we must also have the parent or legal guardian sign a waiver for themselves, as they will be taking responsibility for oversight of their little climber while at Gripstone.

I just want to spectate and be with my family. Do I still need to fill out a waiver?

If you are watching, you do not need a waiver. However, if you are entering the climbing areas, we will need a liability waiver on file. Guardians helping their kids climb must have a waiver. If kids are younger than 12, parents MUST help clip the kids in and out of the auto-belays.

Do you have any areas of the climbing gym dedicated to the youngest climbers?

We do not have an area dedicated to children, but we do have a beginner’s area in the back corner of the gym that is particularly well suited to children and beginners.

Do you offer classes?
Where are you located?

We are located between Powers and Tutt Blvd., just off the Dublin exit. Our address is 6220 Tutt Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80923. Right next to the large orange Public Storage building, and just a little South of the Chick-Fil-A!

Do you offer belay tests for more experienced climbers?

Yes, we do. If you’re interested in taking a belay test, please inquire at the front desk when you are checking in and purchasing your Day Pass.  All belay and lead belay checks take under 5 minutes (you either know it or you don’t.), but if you fail, you will be required to come back another day to test again or take a class if you fail multiple times.
