Gripstone Moving to ABD only for all lead climbing
Starting February 1st, Gripstone will no longer allow the use of manual braking belay devices for lead climbing in the facility. Assisted Braking Devices (ABDs) will be required in order to lead climb in the facility. Of course, we understand that this may be frustrating for some customers, so we wanted to give ample notice before the requirement comes into effect.

Christmas Eve – Closing early at 4pm

USA Climbing Youth Regional Sport Championships – June 19th
We are excited to be hosting Youth Regional Sport Championships this year in partnership with USA Climbing! After almost 2 years off from a championship competition, competitors will return to the sport to continue their journeys to Nationals!
Ahead of the competition, we will begin resetting sections of the gym, beginning June 16th. Please be prepared for limited climbing in the facility. Gripstone will be CLOSED on June 18th in preparation for the competition, and will remain closed to general climbing on June 19th, the day of the Championship.
Monday, May 31st: CLOSED in observance of Memorial Day
Gripstone will be closed on Monday, May 31st in observance of Memorial Day.
April 19th: Gripstone lifts restrictions!
With Colorado announcing the end using the COVID Dial, and El Paso county stating they will be following the State’s recommendations without implementing any of their own, restrictions have eased here at Gripstone! Effective immediately, no reservations will be required, all capacity restrictions have lifted. Masks are still required, but you can grab some water from our fountains again! Check out our updated policies for COVID at our COVID Policies page here.
January 2021: Happy New Year!
January 4th: Colorado Springs moves to Safer at Home Level Orange
Gripstone moves to Members and Punch Pass Holders only at specific times,
Non-Members welcome; Capacity is raised to 50 customers at a time
We had originally posted when we found out the return to level Orange (and the increase to 25 customers at a time) back before the new year on our COVID Page- this has since changed from the original 25 allowed in Level Orange, to 50 customers at a time! The Colorado State Health Dept. created an addendum to the State Order without notice of the good news! Read more here: Order 20-36 (Section E, Number 2(m))
November 25th: Colorado Springs moves to Safer at Home Level Red
Gripstone moves to Members and Punch Pass Holders ONLY, with a 10 person capacity
With ever tightening restrictions, Gripstone will be dropping the capacity from 25 to 10 guests, as well as moving to Members and Punch Pass Holders only. We will be closed for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, and will reopen with the new restrictions in Saturday, November 28th.
We are working on a solution similar to cityROCK and Springs Climbing Center, but this will take time. If things go successfully, we’ll have four rooms to book independently, each with a capacity of 10 people. Currently though, we are only able to accomodate 10 people total per the Health Dept.’s order.
November 13th: Return to Reservations.
Sadly, due to El Paso County going back to Safer at Home Level 3, our capacity has been reduced back to 25 total. To ensure fair availability to all, we must return to reservations. For specific info about our COVID-19 policies, please check out our COVID page.

After School Climbing Club will be offered each month while school is in session for District 49 schools. ASCC is a 4-week program
consisting of two sessions per week for a total of 8 sessions. Each week, kids will go through a guided curriculum to learn about climbing,
how to move on the wall, and their personal responsibilities to keep themselves and those around them safe (as safe as climbing can be- it’s still dangerous!).
ASCC will NOT be offered during the summer, and will be reintroduced next Fall once kids are back in school.
Early Bird and Late Night specials!
Every Weekday before 3pm and after 8:30pm, enjoy $5 off day passes! See you at the gym!
