Here at Gripstone, we want to highlight the people who matter most to us – the Grisptone Members.
Meet Steve…

Steve has been a member of Gripstone since we first opened in 2019. He is one of our many remaining founding members. Steve shows up to the gym with a smile on his face and ready to conquer his projects on the lead wall. We asked Steve some questions to help you know more about him and his climbing.

Your favorite thing about Gripstone? 

Gripstone has been a place for me to expand my community by meeting friends of friends. I can train as hard as I can stand and then kick back with cool people and staff. It’s not uncommon to get randomly cheered on by fellow climbers as I’m struggling on my projects. I love the positive and encouraging environment!

Your favorite thing about the real world? Probably pushing myself to my limits no matter what I am doing. Whether it is climbing, snowboarding, you name it – I just love finding the limits. 

Jug, Crimp, Sloper, Pocket?  Jug for sure. 

Cake or Pie? Cake

If you could only pick one Colorado crag or boulder field to climb at for the rest of your life, what would it be? That is like asking a parent to pick their favorite child, there are so many good crags around here. If I had to pick one it would be La Vista in the Wet Mountains. It has the best granite and cracks I have ever climbed on. 

If you did not know, Steve owns a carpet cleaning business. He recently cleaned all the mats at the gym, and we can confirm he does a stellar job. If there is something strange lingering on your carpets, you know who to call. The best way to reach Steve for his services is by phone at 719-439-1233.

SUMMER CAMPS

Do not miss out on this memorable experience with Gripstone this summer!  Camp Gripstone is going to be running from June 3rd to July 26th for ages 7 – 14. This camp will run every day of the week from 8:30 – 11:30 am and is a great way to get your kids active this summer. Kids will have a fun-filled 3 hours packed with rock climbing, games, and fun activities led by Gripstone’s counselors. Sign up for a SINGLE day ($75/session) or the full week for a DISCOUNTED price ($325/week). During Friday morning camps ($95/session), the children will have the opportunity to tie-dye exclusive Camp Gripstone T-shirts.

CLOSURES

Gripstone will be closed Saturday, June 22nd to the public for our Summer Bloc Party. We will offer members-only hours from 8 am – 1 pm before the event starts.

Gripstone will be open till 4 pm on July 4th. Get your climbing in early before the Independence Day celebrations!
